Information Technology has turned the world into a global village. Technological developments have transformed transactions from paper to paperless with extraordinary speed. We are now creating new standards of speed, efficiency, and accuracy in information communication, which have become key tools for boosting innovations, and creativity and increasing overall productivity. Cyberspace is being used to store confidential data of political, social, economic, or personal nature, thus has done a great benefit to the society.
This speedy development of the internet and cyber has led to the mushrooming of new types of transnational crimes especially internet and computer-related related. These kinds of crimes are without borders and affect countries across the globe. Hence, there is a great need for awareness among the masses of necessary legislation in all countries of the globe for the prevention of computers, digital devices, the internet, cyber-related crimes, etc. Internet-based transactions are borderless, hence creating a new phenomenon of human activities undermining the application and legitimacy of cyber laws based on geographic boundaries. Every state has its constitution and legislation most suited to its masses. This new virtual world, which is made up of screens and passwords, called as “cyber world” is different from the “real world”. Territorial-based legislation and enforcement for the prevention of cyber or digital crimes is a gigantic task for the authorities who have their limits and areas.
